A native of New Jersey, Dr. Ankit Patel has board certifications in Complex General Surgical Oncology as well as General Surgery. Dr. Patel received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/ University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his general residency at University of Rochester Medical Center and his surgical oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
With a passion for providing comprehensive and advanced care, Dr. Patel's has a focus on treating Melanoma and other skin and soft tissue malignancies, encompassing merkel cell carcinoma, invasive squamous and basal cell carcinoma. Emphasizing a collaborative approach, he works with a multidisciplinary team to deliver individualized treatment plans addressing primary, regionally advanced, and metastatic Melanoma cases.
Dr. Patel also specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgery for patients with gastrointestinal cancers including gastric cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), small bowel tumors, and pancreas cancers.
His specialties include soft tissue sarcomas throughout the body such as extremity, truncal, intra-abdominal/retroperitoneal. In addition to sarcomas, he also treats unusual benign and locally aggressive soft tissue tumors. These include desmoid/aggressive fibromatosis, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), neurogenic tumors such as neurofibroma and schwannoma, liposarcoma/lipomatous tumors, and solitary fibrous tumor.
