My father was a physician at St. Mary's

Gregory Soehner
son of physician (1950-1975)

I remember as a child, my father would take me to St Mary's on Sunday mornings as he did rounds. My father, Dr. Bernard Soehner, worked at St Mary's for many years. He would drop me in the doctor's lounge and say he would be right back.
There were a bank of lights with doctors' name. If the light was on, that meant they were in. As a bored child waiting for his father, I would play with the light, switching them on and off in various patterns. My father's few minutes would stretch well beyond an hour, but it was a found memory and time with my father who dearly loved the hospital. He retired from Park Ridge in the mid 80's, reluctantly at age 75.
