Flu Visitor Restrictions
UPDATED: February 17, 2017
Due to the increased prevalence of influenza in the Greater Rochester area, Rochester General Hospital, Unity Hospital, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, and United Memorial Medical Center have initiated visitor restrictions to minimize flu exposure to our patients.
Visitor restrictions include:
- Only two visitors per patient at a time
- All visitors must be at least 14 years old
- Patients should not receive visitors who are experiencing: sore throat, fever, runny nose, coughing, sneezing, or other flu-like symptoms (even if the visitor has been vaccinated against the flu)
PLEASE NOTE: Masks, tissues, and hand sanitizer are available for employees and visitors at respiratory hygiene stations at hospital main entrances and some clinical units.
You will receive a clear communication when the visitor restrictions are no longer in effect.
Thank you for your understanding and participation in this important initiative to keep our patients, employees, and visitors safe and healthy this flu season. If you have any questions about visitor restrictions, please contact Melissa Bronstein via email: Melissa.Bronstein@RochesterRegional.org or phone: 585.922.5609.
