Primary Care

One of the unique strengths of the RGHIMRP is the participation of the Primary Care physicians from the community in a wide range of teaching functions The Practice Based Experience allows primary care physicians to teach residents in their own office setting and in the hospital, thereby demonstrating to the residents the entire spectrum of care provided by general internists.  PCP's also teach in a number of the conferences including Overnight Report, Attending Rounds, and Noon Conferences.

On a daily basis, PCPs teach at the bedside, as they, their full-time faculty consultants, residents and medical students care for their hospitalized patients.  It is the use of this teaching triangle composed of the patient, the residents and medical students, and the attending teacher that provides one of the strongest foundations for education in the RGHIMRP.
