Welcome to the Rochester General Hospital Clinical Laboratory Technology Program! I invite you to explore our site and become familiar with the excellent educational opportunity encompassed within our Program.

As Clinical Laboratory Technologists, we can honestly say that: we are extraordinary people called to do extraordinary work!

Up to three quarters of all medical decisions are based at least in part on laboratory data. We are important members of the health care team and are engaged in truly meaningful work, making a difference in patients’ health and wellness.

Our Program was founded in 1934 in order to educate qualified students in the profession of clinical laboratory technology. We are accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. (NAACLS, 5600 North River Rd., Suite 720, Rosemont, IL 60018) or

As one integrated service line within Rochester Regional Health, laboratories at Rochester General Hospital and ACM collectively perform several million tests per year, utilizing state of the art instrumentation, computer systems lab6and facilities. The Program offers an outstanding faculty of technical specialists and M.D./Ph.D.’s. Our students have the invaluable opportunity to see and learn from both normal specimens and abnormal specimens covering a wide range of specialties at two large, state-of-the-art laboratories.

Our graduates perform excellently on the national certifying examination and embark upon an exciting and fulfilling journey. Not only is the job market extremely strong nationwide for those with a clinical laboratory technology background, but the choices that can be made within that job market are amazing – clinical labs, research and development, the pharmaceutical industry, large equipment manufacturers and computer companies, biotechnology, infection control and emerging diseases, forensics labs, environmental labs, and teaching programs. The opportunities are practically endless.

As a result, we are re-opening admissions from this point until June 22, 2018. The new Class will begin Monday, August 6, 2018. If you know of academically solid students who may be interested in clinical laboratory science, please have them apply as soon as possible. Interested students may also contact me at (585-922-2120).

Our outstanding program is the second oldest Clinical Laboratory Technology Program in the United States, and we are committed to both educating the next generation of medical technologists as well as offering our graduates many exciting career opportunities once the Program finishes. Our Program is an integral part of Rochester Regional Health (RRH), a five-hospital comprehensive health system serving communities across upstate New York.  Our clinical laboratories include both large tertiary hospitals, smaller community hospitals, outpatient testing facilities and our ACM Global Laboratories testing facility which includes both medical diagnostics and innovative global clinical trials testing. Students train in all of these laboratory settings, and we introduce them early on to a variety of employment opportunities after graduation. Rochester itself is a wonderful community with affordable housing, easy commutes, excellent schools and a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities. Our hope is that our students will choose to build an exciting career here with us at Rochester Regional Health once the Program finishes. Licensed medical technologists are in short supply and high demand. There has never been a better time for students to strongly consider a laboratory career
