Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is an exercise and education program designed to assist people who have recently experienced a heart attack, angioplasty, bypass surgery or who have been repeatedly diagnosed with stable angina, lower their risk factors for another cardiac event. Participants in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program are usually eligible to have their health insurance assist in paying for a monitored program.
At the start of the program, participants receive an EKG test and have their blood pressure and heart rates recorded and monitored by a registered nurse. Once participants graduate from the monitored program, they can continue to attend on a self-pay basis. A participant's vital signs are still recorded, and a nurse is present to assist with any questions or needs which may arise.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation program is located in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Suite on the first floor of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and has designated parking conveniently located on the north side of the hospital.
