About the Program

The ACGME-accredited, two-year fellowship training program is a unique combination of educational and practical experiences. The fellowship will provide a diverse variety of didactics, rotations, and hands-on leadership opportunities. Our graduates will be well-equipped to be physician leaders in the emerging field of Informatics.

The Health Informatics team members come from a variety of disciplines and are committed to serving the health system and community, as well as committed to providing a productive environment for the learning and growth of the fellows. Since its inception, Health Informatics at RRH has achieved national recognition for its structure and outcomes. The Health Informatics infrastructure has been recognized by Gartner in the publication, “Best Practice Exemplar: RRH Delivers Digital Value through Clinical Informatics,” and has been imperative in RRH’s system achievement of HIMSS Stage 7 of EHR Adoption, Summa Cum Laude in the Honor Roll Program from our EHR vendor, Epic, and CHIME’s Quality Award “Most Wired Level 8” for the deployment of technologies and strategies that achieve meaningful clinical and efficiency outcomes. RRH Health Informatics Department has a direct affiliation with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) for its Health Informatics MS program and other informatics related education and research activities. Fellows will have the opportunity to interact with RIT students and collaborate with them in different activities.

Our collaboration with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) supplements the didactic curriculum for the foundations of Clinical Informatics practice. The Faculty and Health Informatics team will mentor a diverse range of education and experience throughout the training period.

Fellows will act as in the role of a Medical Director in the second year of their Fellowship where they will have practical experience of the practice of Clinical Informatics and will lead the longitudinal informatics projects and governance committees. Fellows will be provided with the opportunity to maintain clinical skills in their primary specialty.
