Our program provides an interdisciplinary approach, providing contact and communication between many providers from all aspects of care in the athletic community. The practice of sports medicine incorporates the application of a physician’s knowledge and procedural and communication skills when caring for issues that can arise and affect athletic performance throughout a lifetime of sports participation. Here, you will gain a much better understanding of the role of sport and the logistics/rules/circumstances surrounding specific sports while coordinating the individual needs of the athlete during recovery from injury and/or illness.
We care for a wide variety of patients from all backgrounds: pediatric to geriatric, recreational/amateur to scholastic to intercollegiate to professional; and a wide variety of types of sport from team sports to individual sports, and everything in between. You will receive training and shadowing opportunities across a broad variety of specialties commonly utilized by athletes and help coordinate services with specialty care when needed.
