The community is rallying around Rochester General Health System’s signature fundraising event in record-breaking fashion. This year’s gala has already raised more than $870,000—a new high for RGHS—and the proceeds will support surgical care.
“Each year, we accomplish three objectives through our gala: recognize some of our special friends through our philanthropy awards, thank and celebrate with our generous community partners and raise money for a key RGHS area—this year, surgical care,” explained Matt Piede, director of events for the Rochester General Hospital Foundation.
Attendance for the gala has steadily increased each of the past five years. To date, 1,650 tickets have been sold for Saturday’s event, making it the largest of its kind ever held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. After a tribute to three philanthropy award honorees—The Helen and Ritter Shumway Foundation in memory of Frank R. Shumway, Jr., Barbara Marshall and RGHS Board Member Dan Meyers, guests will enjoy a full slate of exciting entertainment. The names of the artists are being kept a surprise, but they are performers who tour nationally and have appeared on network television.
“It’s important to us to provide a unique and special experience for the people who attend our gala,” remarked Chris Mahan, president of the Rochester General Hospital Foundation. “Our generous friends who give throughout the year, many in addition to their support of the gala, are a key reason why RGHS can afford to keep making investments with a singular focus on patient care. In this era of significant health care reform, our friends are more important than ever, and we want them to know how much we appreciate their support.”
The RGH Gala will take place at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center and begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 16. Tickets to the gala are available for purchase at www.giveRGH.org until noon on Friday, November 15.
