The Finger Lakes region’s “March for Babies” campaign was officially kicked-off with a breakfast for area businesses and health care professionals at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital on Wednesday, February 5th. Newark-Wayne is the Presenting Sponsor for this year’s campaign. Close to 100 people attended the event.
Cindy Witter, Nurse Manager of the Obstetrics Department at Newark-Wayne and Chair of the campaign spoke of the advances she sees every day due to the March of Dimes and Heather Jump, one on Newark-Wayne Birthing and Women Center’s own nurses, spoke as Newark-Wayne’s Ambassador Mom about her family’s personal connection to the mission of the March of Dimes. Heather and her husband, Brett’s son, Grady, was born full-term with immature lungs and multiple other life-threatening medical issues. Grady lived and is a testament to the medical miracles that are available to help babies, many of which were developed through the March of Dimes research programs.
March for Babies is the largest annual fundraising event for the March of Dimes. More than 4 million babies are born in the United States each year and the March of Dimes has helped each and every one of them through research, education, vaccines and breakthroughs.
