Effective immediately, Rochester Regional Health System is ending the targeted visitor restrictions put in place on September 26th at Rochester General Hospital, Unity Hospital and Newark Wayne Community Hospital to help further protect our pediatric patients from the higher than normal number of contagious respiratory/enterovirus illnesses occurring among children in our community. The number of patients experiencing these respiratory viruses has now decreased to a typical level for this time of year. As a result, the additional precautionary measures are no longer necessary.
On behalf of our System and Hospital Chief Medical Officers, Chief Nursing Officers and Infection Prevention team, we thank our staff and the public for helping us carry out the pediatric visitor restrictions quickly and consistently across our hospitals. Your efforts helped to ensure we maintained a safe patient care environment during this period of increased respiratory illnesses.
