Wegman Family Charitable Foundation Makes 1 Million Gift to Rochester Regional Health

November 2, 2015

Rochester Regional Health today announced a $1 million charitable donation from The Wegman Family Charitable Foundation (the Foundation) to fund community health and workforce development initiatives.

“We are grateful for The Wegman Family Charitable Foundation’s support of Rochester Regional Health,” said Eric Bieber, MD, the health system’s president and CEO. “This gift by one of the region’s most generous foundations is a tangible affirmation of our commitment to our community and will provide critical support for the programs and services we are developing.”

“Rochester Regional Health’s vision is aligned with our foundation’s focus on both young people and health,” said Danny Wegman, president and chairman of the board of the Foundation. “For this reason, we are confident that they will invest this gift in ways that will show positive and measurable results.”
“Thanks to their generosity and vision, the Foundation has laid the groundwork for a phase of growth that we will be introducing shortly,” Dr. Bieber said. “This great community demands and deserves superior healthcare, and Rochester Regional is committed to delivering just that with every dollar invested.”

Formed last July through a merger between Rochester General Health System and Unity Health System, Rochester Regional Health is focused on improving access to acute, preventative, rehabilitative and long-term care throughout the region. Now with five hospitals and more than 150 locations from Clifton Springs through Rochester and into Batavia, Rochester Regional Health is investing in people, technology and infrastructure to make high-quality healthcare more affordable, effective and convenient for everyone in the region.
