This month we are focusing our conversation on the heart as February is Heart Month. Dr. Rohit Gupta gives today answer to this question:
Q: What is heart disease?
A: There a wide range of problems which we refer to as “Heart Disease.” The most common of which includes coronary artery disease. This is a disease which is caused by cholesterol filled blockages of the heart arteries and can lead to chest pain and heart attacks. Heart failure is another common heart disease. This develops when the heart function is weakened, and the heart cannot circulate blood adequately throughout the body. Other forms of heart disease include valvular heart disease, which can be due to leakiness or tightening of the heart valves over time.
