GRIPA Delivers Exceptional Quality
GRIPA achieves extraordinary care scores through Excellus BlueCross BlueShield program

Rochester, NYThe Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association (GRIPA), in conjunction with the Rochester Regional Physician Organization and the Rochester Regional Health, is pleased to announce that it has performed better than 90 percent of health care providers nationally on quality in 2016.

Through the Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Accountable Cost and Quality Arrangement (ACQA), GRIPA was assessed using national, evidence-based measures of care in areas such as diabetes, blood pressure, coronary artery disease and preventive health care for adults and children. For the second year in a row, GRIPA earned the highest level of health care quality it can achieve in the program. The organization demonstrated a level of quality that outperformed at least 90 percent of health care providers nationally.

The ACQA is designed to achieve enhanced care coordination, improve patient satisfaction and outcomes and reduce health care costs.  Physicians must meet quality standards to ensure that savings are achieved through improving care coordination and providing care that is appropriate, safe and timely.

GRIPA team members have worked diligently with patients to improve physician-patient engagement and outcomes through such efforts as improving access to primary care medical services (to manage chronic illnesses such as diabetes and reduce the need for emergency room visits), improving medication adherence rates, and limiting duplication of services.

“GRIPA is focused on improvement initiatives important to the care and outcomes of our patients,” said Joseph Vasile, MD, president and CEO of GRIPA. “We appreciate Excellus BlueCross BlueShield’s support of our quality goals and the creative and hard work of our team that positively impacts the people in our community who come to us for care.”
