Interpreter Services

At Rochester General Hospital we are committed to providing accurate, timely language assistance services for our Non-English Speaking, Deaf and Visually Impaired patients, support persons, family and visitors through our Interpreter Services Department. We believe every person is entitled to clear and thorough communications regarding their healthcare.

Non-English Speaking Patients

  • In-house Spanish Interpreters are available Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 6:30pm.
  • Live, over-the-phone interpretation for more than 200 other languages is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is available for emergent needs. VRI enables face-to-face personalized service through i-Pad technology.

Deaf or Hard-of -Hearing Patients

  • American Sign Language Interpreters are on-call and available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Video Relay Services and a Captell device are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is available for emergent needs. VRI enables face-to-face personalized service through i-Pad technology.

Visually Impaired

  • Recorder devices are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
