Dr. Anatole Kleiner was born in Kiev, Ukraine. His family immigrated to the United States in 1979. He was raised in a suburb of Syracuse, NY and attended Harvard College, where he graduated Magna cum Laude with a degree in chemistry. He attended medical school at SUNY Stony Brook, where he met his wife, Jessica. Dr. Kleiner moved to Rochester, NY in 2002. He did his residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, in Rochester, NY. During his fellowship training, Dr. Kleiner coauthored several review articles dealing with psoriatic arthritis, seronegative spondyloarthropathy, and anaphylaxis, and was a coauthor for scientific abstracts on the topics of inflammatory arthritis and angioedema.
Dr. Kleiner joined the AAIR practice in July of 2008. His current interests include diagnosis and treatment of patients with environmental allergies and associated illnesses such as asthma and rhinitis. In addition, Dr. Kleiner is trained in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and vasculitis. He is involved in AAIR’s clinical research center, and has been sub-investigator and principle investigator on a number of research studies. He also helps train current medical students, residents and fellows from the University of Rochester Medical Center and Rochester Regional Health.
Dr. Kleiner is board-certified in Allergy and Clinical Immunology as well as Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology and the American College of Rheumatology and is also a member of the American Medical Association and Monroe County Medical Society. Additionally, Dr. Kleiner is appointed as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Dr. Kleiner has three children, who consume most of his waking (and sleeping) hours outside of medical practice. As a result, his hobbies and interests include junior tennis, ballet, Barbie dolls and Matchbox cars.
