Dr. Kubicka was born and raised in Poland . She achieved her medical degree from Medical University of Lodz (Poland), following in the footsteps of her father who is also a physician.Her interest in field of Allergy and Immunology was kindled after working as a Research Associate at Polish Academy of Science after completing medical school.Mariola came to United States with her husband Jan in 1979 and went through ” Trial by fire” Pediatric Residency at Brooklyn Cumberland Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.They called Rochester home from 1982-1984, during which time Mariola entered an Immunology Fellowship program under the tutelage of Dr’s Robert Schwartz, John Condemi and Stephen Rosenfeld. Jan was then the anesthesiology Chief Resident at Strong Memorial Hospital.
The next several years that followed were divided between clinical practice, raising their two sons Max and Stefan and teaching Family Practice Residents at University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Minot, ND.
In 1992 Mariola went back to Poland to help establish an outpatient Allergy and Immunology Clinic at her Alma Mater Medical School, where she also worked for the next two years.
Dr. Kubicka came back to Rochester and joined AAIR in September of 2002, after spending seven years in private allergy practice in Tacoma Washington. She was an active participant in Washington State Asthma Project and volunteered her time at Asthma Camp organized by American Lung Association since 1986, finding it very rewarding to help children with asthma to enjoy summer camp experience to its fullest.
Mariola is Board certified in Allergy and Immunology as well as in Pediatrics. She is a Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology . She is a part of pediatric faculty serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Dr. Kubicka sees both pediatric as well as adult patients and has special interest in IgE mediated cow’s milk allergy and bronchial asthma.
If not working, Mariola can be found exploring hiking trails of beautiful Upstate New York. Max and Stefan are now college students and she is glad to be back in Rochester enjoying her friends and family that live in this area.
