Dr. Pulcino's first goal when she meets her patients is to get to know them, to understand them and what brings them joy and challenges. From a very early age her patients and their families have had to fight barriers in their own bodies and in society because of their chronic disease. Their strength, humanity and grace in that fight inspires her daily. It is her goal to support the health of her patients in whatever way she can to lighten that load and help them reach their goals.
Dr. Pulcino grew up in the Rochester area and then moved to NYC for medical school. During that time she experienced the disaster of 9/11 and was part of the recovery effort. She completed her MD and MPH then returned to Rochester to complete her training as an Internal Medicine and Pediatrics doctor. Throughout her training she was drawn to patients with complex pediatric onset conditions and as she started her career in primary care spent her spare time applying for funding and researching ways to improve care for this population. In March of 2016, she was able to implement a model that brought multiple disciplines of healthcare together in one place to care for adults with pediatric onset conditions at the URMC Complex Care Center. In addition, she led efforts to reform the way that healthcare was delivered through the NYS Delivery System Reform Incentivization Program, founded and led the Division of Transitional Care Medicine, took on many leadership and advocacy roles at NYS and in our community, and was successful in many grant funded initiatives to improve care. She has joined RRH to bring that model here in a way that integrates with the incredible healthcare teams across our region.
Dr. Pulcino loves spending time with her children, building lego, reading, kayaking and anything that involves a beach! She also loves to take on a challenge like triathalons, Tough Mudders and even a Spartan race.
