Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program
The Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) provides crisis and emergency psychiatric services outside of the hospital for residents of Ontario, Wayne, Yates, and Seneca counties. CPEP services include:
- Mobile crisis outreach
- Psychiatric emergency department
- Extended observation beds
- Crisis residence beds
- Crisis phone counseling services
When clinically safe, the CPEP team provides services directly in the community
Crisis Intervention Unit at Rochester General Hospital
Rochester General Hospital's Crisis Intervention Unit, an adult inpatient psychiatric unit located within the Emergency Department, helps reduce the immediate distress of persons in mental health crisis and provides a safe environment that prevents individuals from doing harm to themselves or others.
The Crisis Intervention Unit provides an emergency evaluation, crisis intervention and referral to the level of care the individual needs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Services are provided to children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Our team consists of a psychiatrist and psychiatric assignment officers (PAOs), all highly-trained mental health professionals.
