Pathways National Accreditation
Children's Institute, an affiliate of the University of Rochester, awarded Pathways National Accreditation to Park Ridge Child Care Center on May 21, 2009. Park Ridge Child Care Center was the first child care center in the nation to achieve this prestigious national accreditation, marking the centers commitment to delivering high quality child care. A. Dirk Hightower, Executive Director of Children's Institute said "the center went through a rigorous process to meet or exceed 500 criteria, which are above what is required by the State of New York Office of Children and Family Services in order for centers to operate. The process of accreditation is rigorous, evaluating parent and staff satisfaction, and program quality, including the facilities, qualifications of staff and leadership, and record keeping. Park Ridge Child Center values excellence and quality for their staff, parents and most of all the children, who will benefit in their development because of the center's commitment to achieving accreditation".
In July 2010, Park Ridge Child Care Center was chosen to participate in the QUALITYstarsNY field study. QUALITYstarsNY is New York's quality rating, improvement and recognition system. It is designed to recognize programs that demonstrate quality above and beyond meeting New York's strong regulatory standards. The choice to participate in QUALITYstarsNY was a voluntary decision out center made to better enhance the programs we offer.
NYS Breast Feeding-Friendly Child Care Center
Park Ridge Child Care Center has been designated by the New York State Department of Health's Child and Adult Care Program as a Breast-Friendly Child Care Center. We provide comfort and privacy for our mommies and daddies in our Family Feeding Room located in the back of the nurse's office if family choose to feed their baby while their child(ren) are at our center. We have a separate refrigerator for storing breast milk where we keep a daily log of any breast milk going in and out of the refrigerator at all times. Lastly, we have a private Family Feeding Room, where we offer a quiet place for parents to come to nurse or give their child a bottle throughout their day.
