Peter's Story - Total hip replacement
"My experience with Unity is indescribable," Peter says, "everyone went above and beyond."
Peter is a very active person, with an unusual hobby: When he’s not working, he likes to rappel down the sides of skyscrapers for fun. That kind of lifestyle doesn’t allow one to slow down from mere discomfort – but as the pain in his hip increased, he realized that a hip replacement was the way to go.
“I had a motto: I would challenge myself, but not hurt myself,” he said. Following his procedure at the Charles J. August Joint Replacement Center at Unity Hospital of Rochester Regional Health, his therapists and transitional care specialists embraced that motto and helped him live up to it.
“My experience with Unity was indescribable,” Peter said. “Everyone went above and beyond.”
Peter returned to work only five months after surgery, and about a year later celebrated his returned vitality with a trip down the side of the First Federal Building in downtown Rochester. And even after retiring from his full-time position he came back to Unity, as a volunteer.
