Dementia Care

When a loved one has dementia, the type of care they will need will change over time as the disease progresses. If there comes a time when they require more care than can be provided at home, it's important to understand the options available. Through our Dementia Care Program, we provide different levels of care depending on each person's individual needs.

At Rochester Regional Health, our long term care facilities and staff are equipped to help seniors with dementia maintain cognitive skills, a sense of self, and quality of life for as long as possible.

Our long term care facilities offer amenities to give you and your loved ones peace of mind, including:

  • 24-hour on-site security
  • Free cable access (residents must provide their own television)
  • In-room telephone (available for an additional fee)

We want our living facilities to be as comfortable and "home-like," as possible. Please let our staff know if there are further accommodations we can make for your loved one.

Our Dementia Care Locations

We offer locked and wander guard facilities, designed to meet the unique needs of residents with dementia. Both facilities offer our residents secure access to plenty of space and amenities, and are ideal for exit-seeking and non-exit-seeking residents. The primary difference between the two is how residents are able to enter and exit the units.

Locked Units

Locked units have entrances to and from the units that are locked and can only be accessed with a code or key card. These are helpful for residents that are exit-seeking and are a measure to keep them safely in their unit.

Wander Guard Facilities

Wander Guard facilities allow residents to have freedom within their resident facilities, while also giving them essential security. An alarm will go off if they go near an exit or wander into an elevator unattended.
