For individuals facing the challenges of alcohol or substance abuse, the inpatient program at United Memorial's Hope Haven facility provides an opportunity to overcome these challenges with outcomes designed to help facilitate a return to a productive life.
Fully licensed by the New York State Office for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and the only inpatient rehabilitation unit our region, Hope Haven is a 22-bed inpatient Chemical Dependency Unit that is housed on a secured floor of the Jerome Center. This unit consists of group room space, patient bedrooms, offices for staff, nurses' station, and comfortable areas for conversation, meetings, relaxation, and other functions.
To receive care at Hope Haven, referrals can be by individual seeking treatment or by someone such as a counselor, court officer, or family member. A patient assessment will determine if the level of care provided at Hope Haven is appropriate for admission. The length of stay may vary; however most patients remain for 28 days. Hope Haven is a resource for residents of Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming counties.
The multi-disciplinary approach used at Hope Haven includes a combination of techniques. A twelve-step model is offered for those who are receptive to it. For those for whom this is not a choice, we provide alternative approaches to sobriety and recovery. All treatments include:
Hope Haven's rehabilitative program activities are facilitated by a physician certified in addiction medicine, committed and compassionate counselors, registered nurses, a recreation therapist, activities aide, and chemical dependency aides. Collectively, the team works with great care to help patients manage their addiction. The unit is operated around the clock with registered nurses and skilled ancillary staff from our hospital.
Our quality care includes providing each patient with a primary counselor who meets with them to develop a comprehensive treatment plan as well as weekly meetings to monitor progress.
