Biography

Dr. Krupa grew up near Philadelphia, PA and attended the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA where she received an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience, graduating summa cum laude. At the University of Pittsburgh, she gained experience in basic science research, teaching students and volunteering in the community. Notably she had the opportunity to participate in medical service trips to Central America to provide medical care to people with limited access to healthcare and to help treat diseases endemic to this region. Dr. Krupa attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. During medical school she remained active in her community, participating in medical student run clinics for the homeless and underserved population of Philadelphia. During medical school she fell in love with surgery; intrigued by the skill set required to operate and critical decision making as well as enjoying being part of a team and providing compassion for patients in a time of need.

Following medical school she completed a residency in general surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, serving as an administrative chief resident in her final year of residency. Pursuing her passion for further training in breast disease, Dr. Krupa completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ). Rutgers CINJ is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Krupa is board certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the advisory council for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester. Interestingly, she has a twin sister who is also a Breast Surgical Oncologist.
