Dr. Rao's passion is caring for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and medical education. He strives to practice the highest level of patient care, professionalism and leadership through service to my community. He enjoys teaching and training the next generation of cardiologists to help them become excellent clinicians, serve our diverse communities, contribute to advancements in the field and impart their knowledge to future generations.
Dr. Rao completed medical education at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Belgaum, India and internal medicine residency at Rochester General Hospital. He worked at Rochester General Hospital as a hospitalist while completing his NIH postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Rochester, in which he studied the role of hypoxia response in myocardial cells and smooth muscle cell tissue factors in arterial thrombosis. Dr. Rao then continued his cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Rochester. He worked in private practice cardiology and EP before joining the Sands Constellation Heart Institute as an Electrophysiologist. Pursing his passion in medical education, he founded the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program and currently serves as the Program Director.
In Dr. Rao's personal time, he enjoys playing and watching tennis and spending time with family. He is also passionate about learning ancient Indian philosophy and the preservation of ancient manuscripts.
