Joshua A Jones, MD

Joshua Jones, MD, MA, FAAHPM, is the Service Line Division Head for Radiation Oncology and a radiation oncologist with Rochester Regional Health who treats patients with both cancerous and benign conditions using advanced radiotherapy techniques. Double board-certified in Radiation Oncology and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. Jones specializes in IMRT/IGRT, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), adaptive radiotherapy, and palliative radiotherapy, with a particular interest in integrating palliative care into cancer treatment. 

He works closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists across our network to ensure patients receive the right care, from the right provider, at the right location. This coordinated approach provides access to advanced treatment options, specialized expertise and a seamless experience throughout every stage of care.

He treats a wide range of malignancies including breast, prostate, lung, gastrointestinal, head and neck, and central nervous system cancers, as well as benign and malignant brain tumors and sarcomas. In addition to his radiation oncology practice, Dr. Jones leads an outpatient palliative medicine clinic at United Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Jones earned his medical degree from NYU Langone School of Medicine and completed internship and residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. Nationally recognized for his expertise in palliative radiotherapy, Dr. Jones has authored more than 70 publications and textbook chapters and serves as editor of Palliative Radiation Oncology, a leading textbook in the field.

Outside of work, Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with his wife and children, cooking, gardening, woodworking, reading, and following hockey with his family.
