Sheema Chawla, MD

Sheema Chawla, MD, DipABLM, is a radiation oncologist with Rochester Regional Health who treats patients with both cancerous and benign conditions using advanced radiotherapy techniques. She specializes in IMRT/IGRT, radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and radiopharmaceutical therapies, with a particular interest in integrating evidence-based lifestyle medicine into cancer care. 

She works closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists across our network to ensure patients receive the right care, from the right provider, at the right location. This coordinated approach provides access to advanced treatment options, specialized expertise, and a seamless experience throughout every stage of care.

Dr. Chawla’s commitment to oncology is grounded in both her clinical training and her appreciation for the challenges faced by modern, multigenerational families. As someone who understands the responsibilities many caregivers navigate, she brings added empathy and clarity to the way she guides patients through complex treatment decisions. She is dedicated to delivering precise, evidence-based care while fostering a supportive environment for patients and their loved ones.

She earned her medical degree in India and completed residency and fellowship training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Rochester. In addition to her oncology expertise, she is board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine and incorporates research-supported strategies such as nutrition and exercise to help improve treatment tolerance and quality of life.

Outside of work, Dr. Chawla enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, cooking, gardening, singing, and participating in wellness-focused activities.
