Spring is here and so are our spring festivals!
From the Lilac Festival to the Greek Festival, Rochester has plenty of options to bring people out of their winter hibernation and enjoy the warmer weather.
Before you head out the door to take it all in, we put together a list of things to bring with you so you’re prepared for minor emergencies – both health and non-health related.
What to bring with you to spring festivals
1. Footwear
More specifically, be sure to bring the right footwear. Check the weather forecast before you leave to see if you are wearing appropriate attire. Flip flops, sneakers, rain boots, or other shoes might be in order depending on the day.
2. Umbrella
While you are checking the weather forecast, take note of any rain. You never know when a stray shower might pop up over the course of a day, so have your umbrella ready to go just in case.
3. Jacket
If you’ve lived in the area long enough, you know we can get all four seasons in one day. Pack a jacket in case the sun decides to hide all day – or if it shows up but the wind decides to tag along.
4. Water bottle
Staying hydrated is important in every season. Whether you have regular water, a sports drink, fitness water, or fruit juice, be sure to replenish your fluids. Bonus points if you have a reusable water bottle.
5. Medication
Take your medication(s) with you, especially if you need to take multiple doses of any specific prescriptions throughout the day. Pack acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or allergy medications if you need them.
6. Hand sanitizer
Keep those hands clean as you’re walking around. Grab a travel-sized container to have at the ready as needed, especially after eating and drinking.
7. Cleaning wipes
These wipes come in handy for multiple situations. Wiping off sticky fingers, cleaning tables, and much more can be taken care of with a pack of wipes. You don’t need to have small children to bring wipes along.
8. Menstrual products
It can really ruin a fun day out when you are out and your period arrives unexpectedly. Better to have period products and need them than to not have them and need them.
9. Earplugs
Festival season means live music is in the mix. If that tribute band is a little too loud for your taste, put some ear plugs in your bag to protect your hearing.
10. Bandages
Even for the best of us, accidents can happen. Stow a small package of bandages with you in case of a cut, scrape, or other minor injury that might need to be patched up. Keep an eye out for the first-aid tent in case of a more serious injury – or start a virtual visit with our virtual urgent care providers.
11. Snacks
Yes, festival food is delicious and fun to eat. It’s also not the healthiest option out there, so consider packing some fruit, nuts, or other good options to keep your body going throughout the day.
With your bag all packed and prepped, you are ready to get outside and enjoy the start to another festival season. Have fun out there!
