Rochester, N.Y. — Rochester Regional Health (RRH) is excited to announce the start of construction on a new Orthopedic and Neurosciences Center in Canandaigua, a $17.5 million investment designed to expand access to specialized orthopedic and neurological care throughout the Finger Lakes region.

Construction is underway within an existing 39,000-square-foot facility located at 183 Parrish Street in Canandaigua. This will be a comprehensive destination for orthopedic, spine, pain management, imaging, and outpatient surgical services.

The new center will bring together several existing Rochester Regional Health practices currently serving patients at separate locations throughout Canandaigua, including Canandaigua Orthopedic Associates, Finger Lakes Bone and Joint, and the Spine and Pain Center.

The building will also include brand new dedicated surgical and procedural space operating as an Ambulatory Surgery Center and Hospital Outpatient Department. Plans call for four operating rooms and 16 pre- and post-procedure bays, allowing patients to receive a wide range of outpatient procedures in a modern, efficient setting.

"Patients deserve access to high-quality specialty care without having to navigate multiple locations for appointments, imaging, and procedures," said Jennifer Eslinger, Chief Operating Officer of Rochester Regional Health. “This campus reflects how care needs are evolving across the region and how we are responding to growing demand for orthopedic and neurological services in a more coordinated, accessible way.”

"This facility is designed around what patients need most: timely access to expert orthopedic care," said Gordon Whitbeck Jr., MD, FAAOS, Executive Medical Director of RRH Orthopedic & Sports Medicine. “We're creating a destination where patients can receive comprehensive orthopedic care right here in Canandaigua, supported by the latest technology and a highly collaborative team."

"This new center represents an important step forward in how we deliver neurological care across the Finger Lakes region," said Sowmya Lakshminarayanan, MD, Executive Medical Director of Neurosciences for RRH. "Patients with conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system often require coordinated care from multiple specialists. By bringing neurology, spine care, pain management, advanced imaging, and outpatient procedures together under one roof, we can significantly improve our patient’s experience.”

Once complete, the facility will feature 32 clinical exam rooms designed to support coordinated care across orthopedic, spine, pain management, and related specialties. Patients will also benefit from convenient onsite imaging services, including MRI, X-ray, and DEXA technology, helping streamline diagnosis and treatment planning.

The project is part of Rochester Regional Health's ongoing commitment to expanding access to advanced specialty care and investing in facilities that support exceptional patient experiences and outcomes.

The project is expected to be completed in Spring of 2027.
