ROCHESTER, NY – Amid a nationwide nursing workforce shortage, Rochester Regional Health (RRH) is stepping into a long-term solution. RRH has recently engaged with the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce’s Greater ROC Global program to help meet its ongoing need for skilled, retainable clinical talent.
Greater ROC Global is a region-wide initiative launched in partnership between inSpring, a national workforce development organization, and Talent Mobility Fund grantee, and the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.
This new partnership builds on Greater ROC Global’s healthcare center of excellence, which is developing a sustainable pipeline of top U.S.-educated international talent for local healthcare employers through individualized support, training, compliance services and relocation to the greater Rochester community.
“In response to the post-pandemic workforce challenges, Rochester Regional Health implemented a comprehensive strategy to reduce our reliance on costly premium-agency staffing and rebuild our internal core of bedside nursing expertise,” said Richard “Chip” Davis, Chief Executive Officer at Rochester Regional Health. “International nurse recruitment has been a critical component in strengthening our care teams, ensuring continuity of care, and addressing key experience gaps. We’re excited to build on this momentum through this new partnership.”
Through this partnership, interviews are already underway with global healthcare professionals preparing to fill critical roles in the emergency department and medical-surgical nursing. RRH anticipates that the program will bring 60 to 100 registered nurses into the workforce in 2025.
Unlike traditional staffing models, Greater ROC Global is built for retention. The initiative reduces dependence on travel nurses and supports cultural and clinical integration to create sustainable pathways for healthcare professionals to remain and grow within the healthcare system. With the initiative’s global network and clinical and immigration expertise, it brings vetted, healthcare talent directly to the region.
The initiative also seeks to enhance care in rural and under-resourced communities. Through the Greater ROC Global program, RRH is prioritizing facilities such as Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, and Unity Hospital, helping to deliver care where it’s needed most.
“As one of the region’s largest employers and a provider of vital services, Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is excited to deepen our support for, and partnership with, Rochester Regional Health through this program,” said Bob Duffy, President and CEO, Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce. “Ensuring our health systems have access to a thriving, talented workforce is critical to our region’s public health and economy alike. We are proud to help bring new nurses into our community and showcase why Greater Rochester is a great place to live and build a career.”
This partnership reflects Rochester Regional’s continued investment in sustainable workforce solutions and the ongoing health of the community, positioning Rochester Regional Health as a national model of health and healing.
