ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Regional Health announced Charlene Wilson, Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, was honored today with the Rochester Business Journal’s Impact and Inclusion Award, recognizing leaders who advance inclusive workplaces and strengthen communities.
As Chief People Officer, Wilson’s focus is clear: care for the people who care for our patients. Across Rochester Regional Health, nearly 20,000 team members deliver care close to home for the communities we serve. Wilson has led efforts to ensure those teams feel supported, valued, and able to grow, strengthening their ability to provide care like family every day.
In a region where many families face economic barriers, Wilson has expanded access to education, training, and career pathways in healthcare for individuals who have historically been overlooked. By meeting people where they are, from education to employment, Rochester Regional Health is helping create opportunity, strengthen families, and build a workforce rooted in community.
The Rochester Business Journal’s Impact and Inclusion Awards honor individuals who champion workplace cultures where people feel a sense of belonging and can thrive. Charlene’s leadership advances a workforce which reflects the community it serves, strengthening trust and connection with patients and families. Investments in paid training, certifications, apprenticeships, and leadership development support inclusion and long term growth while helping ensure this generation of caregivers is prepared to support the next.
“Access to care starts with a strong and representative workforce,” said Richard 'Chip' Davis, PhD, CEO of Rochester Regional Health. “Charlene leads with purpose—investing in our people, strengthening community and academic partnerships, and building clear career pathways and pipelines. Together, these efforts are expanding opportunity, supporting team member growth, and advancing a culture of belonging so people have what they need to build meaningful careers in healthcare. We’re grateful to the Rochester Business Journal for recognizing her leadership.”
