ROCHESTER, NY — Rochester Regional Health (RRH) has donated CPR training equipment to R-Centers across the city to support Rochester’s effort to become a HEARTsafe Community.
The equipment was recognized during a Heart Month event at the Thomas P. Ryan Recreation Center, where Rochester’s Mayor Malik Evans and Dr. LeKeyah Wilson, VP of Community Engagement and Social Impact with Rochester Regional Health, joined RRH volunteer nurse educators in demonstrating hands-only CPR.
“This donation reflects our commitment to community health and our partnership with the City of Rochester,” said Dr. LeKeyah Wilson “When residents have the knowledge and confidence to perform hands-only CPR, they become the first line of response in an emergency. Expanding access to training through R-Centers helps ensure that lifesaving skills reach every neighborhood.”
“During Heart Month, we’re reminded that heart care begins in the community, long before an emergency happens.” said Mayor Malik Evans. “This work is about making sure families, teachers, and neighbors have the knowledge and confidence to step in when it matters most. This is yet another example of what is possible when community partners come together to make Rochester safer and stronger.”
The gift of 15 easy-to-use CPR kits expands access to life-saving education in neighborhoods across Rochester and reinforces a shared commitment between the City of Rochester and Rochester Regional Health to strengthen community preparedness and improve survival during cardiac emergencies.
The initiative is part of Rochester Regional Health’s Community Health and Wellness outreach, which brings prevention and education beyond hospital walls and directly into neighborhoods.
