ROCHESTER, NY - Rochester Regional Health (RRH) is proud to announce its inclusion in the Becker’s Hospital Review 2025 list of 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Orthopedic Programs. This national recognition highlights health systems leading the way in orthopedic innovation, advanced surgical care, and outstanding patient outcomes.
“Rochester Regional Health’s inclusion in Becker’s list for the third time underscores the expertise, dedication, and innovation of our orthopedic teams,” said Gordon Whitbeck, MD, Executive Medical Director of Orthopedic Medicine at Rochester Regional Health. “From advanced robotic techniques to comprehensive joint replacement and sports medicine programs, our clinicians are setting a new standard for excellence in musculoskeletal care.”
The Rochester Regional Health Orthopedic Service Line performs more than 18,000 orthopedic surgeries and manages over 180,000 outpatient visits each year. As a regional leader in orthopedic urgent care and joint replacement, RRH completes more than 6,000 procedures annually across hips, knees, shoulders, elbows, ankles, and cervical spines. The system excels in navigated and robotic techniques, performing over 1,000 robotic-assisted total knee replacements annually.
Adding to this record of excellence, Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital have each earned Blue Distinction® Center designations for Knee and Hip Replacement from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. The Rochester Ambulatory Surgery Center received the Blue Distinction® Center+ designation; an enhanced recognition for Knee and Hip Replacement excellence. These national designations identify hospitals and ambulatory care centers that demonstrate expertise in patient safety and deliver superior health outcomes.
These honors complement RRH’s DNV Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation and reinforce its reputation for providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care across joint replacement, spine, shoulder, foot and ankle, trauma, sports medicine, musculoskeletal oncology, and geriatric bone health. The health system’s sports medicine division serves athletes of all levels, providing training and support to schools and universities across the region.
Becker’s editorial team selected the 2025 honorees after reviewing nominations and evaluating national rankings and recognitions from U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, and Healthgrades.
