Clifton Springs, NY — Rochester Regional Health is proud to celebrate two physicians who have made a lasting impact on patients and colleagues across the region.
Each year on Doctor’s Day, the health system presents its long-standing Physician Excellence Awards - celebrating collaboration, teamwork, and a deep commitment to patient care and safety. Nominated and selected by hospital staff, these awards reflect the voices of those who work side by side with these physicians every day.
At Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Dr. James Cullinan, Chair of Emergency Medicine, was named the 2026 recipient of the Dr. John Davis Physician Excellence Award. Known for his steady leadership, mentorship, and compassion, Dr. Cullinan supports emergency care teams at both Newark-Wayne and Clifton Springs. Colleagues describe him as a trusted advocate for both patients and staff, bringing humility and humanity to even the most challenging moments.
At Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, Dr. Timothy Malins, Director of Rural Cardiology at the RRH Sands Constellation Heart Institute, received the 2026 Dr. Henry Foster Physician Excellence Award. Dr. Malins is widely recognized for his compassionate approach to heart care and his commitment to expanding access to specialty services in rural communities, helping ensure patients across the Finger Lakes can receive high-quality cardiac care close to home.
“These physicians represent the heart of what we strive to be,” said Dr. Robert Cole, Chief Medical Officer for RRH’s Eastern Region. “Dr. Cullinan and Dr. Malins lead with compassion, support their colleagues, and go above and beyond for their patients every day. We are incredibly proud to recognize their contributions.”
The honors are named for Dr. John Davis, a beloved Newark physician and Dr. Henry Foster, founder of the Clifton Springs Sanitarium (now the site of Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic) and have been a cherished tradition for many years. More than recognition, they are a celebration of the everyday dedication, kindness, and healing these physicians bring to the communities they serve.
