ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Just in time for Heart Month, Rochester General Hospital is celebrating a major advancement in cardiovascular care with the reopening of a fully renovated and technologically upgraded cardiac catheterization lab, reinforcing a long-standing commitment to delivering leading-edge heart care for the Greater Rochester community.
The $1.5 million renovation, funded by Rochester Regional Health, represents a significant investment in the future of cardiac care at Rochester General Hospital. The project modernized one of the hospital’s most critical cardiac care spaces, replacing aging infrastructure and end-of-life equipment while creating a more advanced, efficient, and supportive clinical environment for patients and care teams alike. The Rochester General cardiac teams perform over 5600 procedures annually across four catheterization labs.
Designed to support safer procedures, greater efficiency, and increasingly complex cardiac interventions, the newly upgraded surgical space ensures the hospital remains at the forefront of cardiovascular innovation. The renovation reflects a long-term strategy to maintain state-of-the-art facilities that meet the evolving needs of patients while supporting physicians, nurses, technologists, and interdisciplinary teams who deliver lifesaving care every day.
“This renovation is about much more than new technology; it’s about investing in the health of our community for decades to come,” said Tammy Snyder, President and COO of RGH. “By upgrading this essential space, we’re ensuring our teams have the tools and environment they need to deliver the highest level of cardiac care, today and into the future.”
The project also reflects the close collaboration between Rochester General Hospital and the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute, united by a shared commitment to innovation, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement. Together, the teams are advancing Rochester Regional Health’s vision to become a national model of health and healing, bringing forward-thinking solutions to patients when and where they need them most.
