BATAVIA, N.Y. — Rochester Regional Health is proud to announce that United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) has been recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as one of a select number hospitals in the nation to achieve a zero central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) rate in intensive care units and select hospital wards. This is according to the latest Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Healthcare-Associated Infections dataset.
Central lines are specialized intravenous catheters used to deliver medications, fluids and other treatments to patients with serious medical conditions. While these devices are often lifesaving, they can also increase the risk of bloodstream infections if not managed with meticulous care.
The data, which reflects performance from July 2024 through June 2025, highlights hospitals that excel in preventing serious healthcare-associated infections. Among thousands of hospitals across the country, United Memorial Medical Center is one of only 405 nationwide - including just 25 in New York State - to achieve a zero central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) rate in intensive care units and select hospital wards, demonstrating an exceptional commitment to patient safety.
