After completing his fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Shapiro worked as was a pathologist at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY for five years prior to joining the RGH staff in 2003. Dr. Shapiro is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester. His areas of interest include hematopathology, gastrointestinal, urologic and breast pathology, and immunohistochemistry. Dr. Shapiro serves as the Director of the Immunohistochemistry for Rochester General Hospital, as the Department liaison to Urology and Gastroenterology, and as the director of monthly gastrointestinal pathology and urologic pathology conferences. He is also an Assistant Director for Hematology and Flow Cytometry at Rochester General Hospital. Dr. Shapiro frequently contributes to various educational and multidisciplinary patient care conferences and Grand Rounds, and serves on the teaching faculty for URMC Pathology Residents and RGH Hematology-Oncology fellows.
