ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Regional Health has named Sowmya Lakshminarayanan, MD, MCHL, as Executive Medical Director of Neurosciences, strengthening the organization’s commitment to innovative, coordinated care for patients across the region.
A triple board certified neurologist, Dr. Lakshminarayanan brings more than 20 years of clinical and physician leadership experience, with expertise in vascular neurology, epilepsy, and sleep medicine. She is known for advancing innovative care models, including tele-neurology programs that expand access to stroke care and improve coordination across the continuum.
Her appointment builds on the strong foundation established by Dr. Michael Groff, whose leadership helped shape Rochester Regional Health’s Neurosciences Institute and advance multidisciplinary care for patients with complex neurological conditions.
“Our goal is to ensure patients have access to high quality neuroscience care close to home,” said Leslie Wong, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Rochester Regional Health. “Dr. Lakshminarayanan’s leadership and experience expanding access will help us continue strengthening care for the communities we serve.”
In her new role, Dr. Lakshminarayanan will lead strategic and clinical initiatives across the neurosciences service line, supporting program growth, enhancing access, and advancing patient-centered care throughout Rochester Regional Health.
