COVID-19 Updates: Learn the latest on coronavirus in our community
I treat every patient as if they were my own child, spouse, mother, father, or other beloved family member. I strive daily to provide the most compassionate, cutting edge, and evidence-based care with the highest quality. I witnessed my grandmother suffer a stroke when I was growing up. The advanced capabilities we have today to treat stroke were unavailable at the time, and she was significantly disabled, as a result. Seeing that unfold was the driving force behind me becoming a neurointerventional surgeon. My goal is to prevent another person from having to deal with the devastation a stroke can cause.
I enjoy spending time with family, hiking, weight lifting, running, playing tennis, watching movies and the news, and reading medical journals.
I grew up in Watertown, NY, before moving to Ithaca to attend Cornell University. After studying biology with a concentration in nutrition and also conducting neuroscience research, I graduated in 1997. I then earned my MD and PhD in Neuroscience from SUNY at Buffalo. From Buffalo, I moved to Denver, CO for the remainder of my medical training - an internship in Internal Medicine, followed by a Diagnostic Radiology residency, an Interventional Radiology fellowship, and a Neurointerventional Radiology fellowship at the University of Colorado. Following all my post-graduate training, I moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where I worked as a Neurointerventional and Interventional Radiologist with Advanced Radiology Services. During that time, I was also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Michigan State University, as well as the Medical Director of Neuroendovascular Research and Quality for Spectrum Health. I subsequently moved to Fort Wayne, IN, where I was a Neurointerventional Radiologist with Summit Radiology and served as a locums Neurointerventional Radiologist for UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Finally, I moved to Rochester, NY, in 2018, where I am the Medical Director of Neurointerventional Surgery for Rochester General Hospital. Throughout my career, I have been an active participant in many neurointerventional trials. I am currently board certified in Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology, and have subspecialty certification in Neuroendovascular Surgery. I am fortunate enough to have been supported by my wife, four children, parents, and sister throughout my career.
