Do You Need a Shoulder Replacement?

If you have shoulder arthritis, poor range of motion, a grinding sensation in your shoulder, or pain, a shoulder replacement that replaces the ball-and-socket with artificial material maybe your best option for relieving pain and other symptoms.

The Rochester Regional Health orthopedic surgery team provides care personalized care through every step of the process – ensuring you’re ready for your surgery and have the best possible outcome.

Total Shoulder Replacement

As with other joint replacement surgeries, during a shoulder replacement, our orthopedic surgeons will use minimally invasive approaches to replace the ends of the damaged bones in your shoulder joint.

Shoulder replacement is one of the most reliable treatment options for improving function, reducing pain, and getting patients back to the things they love.

There are 2 types of total shoulder replacements:

  • Anatomic Shoulder Replacement: we will replace the ball and socket of your joint with a similar ball and socket
  • Reverse Shoulder Replacement: we will replace your shoulder with the ball in the socket position and the socket in the ball position. This replacement type is reserved for patients with shoulder arthritis in addition to rotator cuff tearing.

If you are ready to schedule a consultation, find your shoulder surgeon
