When it comes to your health, you want the best care possible - the ability to meet face-to-face with your physician, review your medical history, explain your symptoms and share important information - and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The Rochester Regional Telemedicine Center provides patients with convenient, timely access to superior surgical care by bringing the health care closer to home. Patients in Wayne County and rural areas throughout the Greater Rochester region have the ability to meet virtually with physicians, surgeons and specialists from across Rochester Regional Health using advanced telemedicine technology.

What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine uses video, audio and Internet technology to bring patients face-to-face in real-time with specialists in other locations for leading-edge medical treatments - without having to spend time traveling long distances for care.

If you have a major medical condition, the Rochester Regional Telemedicine Center can expedite your testing, diagnosis and treatment, giving you timely access to physicians and surgeons trained to treat your specific condition or injury.

Benefits of Telemedicine

Using advanced telemedicine technology, our multidisciplinary team of physicians and surgeons meets with you in real-time to effectively diagnose your symptoms and determine the best course of action for your treatment. You’ll have access to experienced specialists from across Rochester Regional Health and receive the same personalized health care delivered at all of our related facilities—without having to travel there.

Telemedicine services offer several time- and cost-saving advantages. In most cases, our surgeons are able to provide comprehensive screening, diagnosis, and pre- and postsurgical care through the Telemedicine Center at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. You will only need to travel to Rochester General Hospital or Unity Hospital for your actual surgery or any related follow-up procedures. Telemedicine surgery appointments offer the following benefits:

  • Specialty care - Patients in rural areas have access to the same specialists and superior level of care delivered throughout Rochester Regional Health

  • Timely access - In healthcare, timing can be critical. The Telemedicine Center provides fast access to expert surgical care in real-time and eliminates added travel

  • Reduced travel & expense – Telemedicine offers the same quality care in a more cost-effective way by reducing travel expenses and time spent traveling to and from appointments. It also lowers the burden on family and caregivers who may need to provide transportation.
