CNA Training

The Rochester Regional Health Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program is a FREE program available to residents in Monroe, Wayne and Ontario counties. Interested candidates will be considered for hire as a CNA trainee in our long-term care facilities, allowing direct entry into a CNA program. CNA trainees will receive an educational stipend for their participation in the program.

A Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct health care needs to patients, often under the supervision of a nurse. CNA responsibilities include monitoring the health of patients, feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and specimen collection.

CNA training includes:

  • Opportunity to learn through classroom instruction, hands-on and clinical experiences
  • Education of human anatomy and physiology, observing patients, basic patient care principals, patients' legal rights, tracking and reporting patient information and safety protocols
  • Instructor led training with extensive experience in both nursing and education
  • Clinical, hands-on experience taking patients vital signs, providing care for their personal hygiene, conducting range-of-motion exercises, and engaging in patient communication
  • State testing at respective training site
  • Use of state-of-the-art simulation labs at one of our educational partner training locations:
    • Monroe Community College - State St location, Rochester, NY
    • Clifton Springs Nursing Home

After successful completion of the program, CNA trainees will be eligible for employment placement with Rochester Regional Health at one of our five long term care facilities:

  • Unity Living Center (City of Rochester)
  • Edna Tina Wilson Living Center (Greece, NY)
  • Park Ridge Living Center (Greece, NY)
  • DeMay Living Center (Newark, NY)
  • Clifton Springs Nursing Home (Clifton Springs, NY)

Upon completion of the program, CNA trainees must make a one-year commitment as a part-time or full-time CNA for Rochester Regional Health. CNA shift placement will be based on facility need. CNA candidates should expect to be placed in either an evening or overnight position upon completion of the program.
